Acts 20:13-38 personalised

Nick announced to the church today that we will be leaving at the end of the year. The actual announcement itself was fine and not much of a shock as I think most people already knew. The floodgates opened though during Nick’s intercessory prayer when he prayed for the church and its future, and the next pastor. He also struggled to get through the scripture reading for the next portion he was preaching on, from Acts 20:32-38, particularly at the end: “…When he had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him. What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.” Too close to home! It was a very emotional service for a lot of people in the congregation. After the service we popped in at Gavin and Tammy on the way home, who had attended our service today. We had an excellent time of much-needed fellowship with them.
