One less spider to worry about

In school we had a spelling test, where the boys were required to supply and spell the missing words. One question was “There’s no place like h_______”. Aaron wrote in ‘eaven’. Dear boy! In the afternoon the boys were keen to get stuck into the front garden. Caleb has decided that he wants to be a gardener when he grows up, or a photographer, or a chef, or a musician. I pointed out that those things can all be hobbies and he can still have a paying job, but it’s great that he has such wide interests! Anyway, the garden still needed more weeding and removing of ivy vines, which the boys did well, although still not to completion – drizzle drove them inside and then they didn’t continue later. Nick found a huge spider which had relocated itself from the ivy on the wall to one of the mango trees. I said I didn’t want it in the garden so he moved it to the hibiscus hedge with a long stick. Then later he wanted to photograph it for himself (I had already been busy with the camera, but he wanted to also have a go), so he moved the spider to the garage wall. It wasn’t long before the curious cats came over and I think that was the end of the spider.
