Insert germs here

We’ve been trying to get the boys’ inoculations up-to-date for ages…today was the day for it. We had a bit of school – I pointed out to the boys that one of the advantages of homeschooling was that they got to keep their dressing gowns on which they had put on over their clothes as part of a game – and then popped out to the Longwood Clinic, where the packs of syringes and things were waiting. Aaron was particularly nervous, and although we said he shouldn’t watch the needle go into Caleb’s arm, he did anyway. Thus when his turn came, after having seen what he saw and hearing Caleb’s “ow, ow”, he was disinclined to subject himself to the apparent torture and his brave façade crumbled. I had to hide my weak knees (I’m rubbish with needles and blood and things) and convince him that he would be okay…eventually he conceded and it was over quickly. Shame, the things our kids have to endure.
