Hidden emerald

Attention Joburgers: Did you know that there is a beautiful picnic area / city park about two minutes away from Northgate? Necessity drove me to Google potential places to host a picnic covering two criteria: close to home, and inexpensive. This one is free, and doesn't get much closer. It's called the Golden Harvest City Park and the entrance is on Maple Street just off Olievenhout. It's an awesome place - so big you can't see one end from the other, with many clumpings of playground equipment and benches, heaps of shade, wide open areas to run around in. So there you go - don't say I don't provide useful information in the otherwise trivial swathes of blogged data. We met up with Glen and Antje and the girls for lunch in the gardens (another farewell, yes) where we spent four hours chatting and laughing while the kids played. They have such a good time together although not without the occasional hiccups (not to mention Aaron spinning Rachel on the roundabout so exuberantly that she vomited). Great to see them all again and maybe this really was the last time?! Caleb would not be enticed or forced to extend embraces again. In the evening we were blessed with a beautiful dinner at Bruce and Debbie's place. Debbie is full of wonderful entertaining ideas, putting such a lot of effort into the table decor and the meal itself. Had a very relaxed time with them.
