We popped into the church buildings this morning while we were in town for Good News Club. This time last year we were shell-shocked and just happy to be alive; today we were still happy to be alive but also grateful to the Lord for His blessing and provision for us to have come so far with the rebuilding. The manse is the nearest to completion – the bathroom fixtures are in. The chapel repair is progressing steadily, with one of the damaged arches completely mended, and the other well on the way, and the schoolroom is looking good with its facelift – the cloakroom facilities are coming along rapidly. It is very exciting for us to see the progress week by week. Pam and Maddy came to play in the afternoon. They both had cross-stitching to work on, and Pam had anticipated the boys’ interest and prepared something to keep them busy (thanks again Pam). Caleb had no difficulty in doing a running stitch, another border stitch, and some cross-stitching; Aaron diligently unpicked mistakes and rethreaded his needle approximately 31 times. We lost count eventually. We commended him for his perseverance in the face of such trials though – he really did suffer through it bravely! In the end both boys produced a bookmark with a beady-eyed snake.
