We rushed through school this morning although didn’t finish all of it before going to town – we had to be there early to get to the post office as the ship left for Ascension this evening. To make our trip to town more worthwhile, we had Sally’s takeaways at Castle Gardens, always a treat. Didn’t linger in town as Nick needed to finish his bible study prep during the afternoon. After the boys and I had read the first chapter of “A Little Princess”, I scrapped. Nick had a guitar lesson which was very quick, and then we were off to the docks to say farewell to Gareth, who left today to study in the UK. Nick has been friends with Gareth for some time now – originally as his guitar teacher. Gareth was trying to be brave but we could see it was going to be a difficult departure for him! We didn’t really hang around as he still had lots of family to greet. (Poor guy looked a little too closely at a football shoe - he leaves with a wound above his eye).Supper was tuna snackwiches, using the excuse that we had gotten home late, and for pudding the boys each had a naartjie. I forgot that fresh produce would be getting unloaded some time soon following the ship’s arrival from Cape Town on Saturday morning and was therefore very surprised to see tomatoes, avos, cucumbers, naartjies, peppers etc at our Longwood store.
