Caleb said I looked like an ogre in my toe-socks. But that really has nothing to do with today's post. School was wearisome; I am feeling generally like I need a holiday (not just a school holiday – a holiday holiday!). After this week we have one more, and then two weeks of school holidays. That will help anyway. During the early afternoon Nick said, “let’s go for a walk”. He didn’t just mean a walk around the block (although that could have taken long given the roads) – he meant a hard-core cross-country walk. We got the boys ready and headed for Flagstaff but realized that more light drizzle was going to make it unpleasant. Instead we completely changed plans and went to town. We started our walk at Castle Gardens and walked all the way around to Ruperts. Spent some time at Ruperts taking photos while the boys paddled in the low tide and ran about on the rocks (until Caleb tripped), then took a fairly slow walk back. It was about two hours in all – extremely enjoyable, very tiring, but it certainly warmed us all up. It was excellent to get the exercise and be outdoors – we did a similar walk nearly a year ago with the Williamsons, where we started at Ruperts and walked to Banks’ Battery. On that day I had left the camera at home so made up for it today – the scenery on the walk was almost identical.
This marvellously old rope (above) has some sort of sea-life growing on it. Above - I finally got to try out my ND filter (cuts out light, enabling slower shutter speed). Below - the Munden's House perched on the edge of the cliff. And back to Jamestown - overlooking part of the dock area and lower town.
