Stalking leeks

Dad has been wanting to make his famous Potato and Leek soup. In the first week of their arrival we set about buying the ingredients but found that leeks cost $2.99 each, and he needed four. In dollars it didn't sound too bad, but converting to Rands he would have been paying over R100 for them, where they would pay less than R10 at their South African "Pick'n'Pay".  When we happened upon some leeks on special at 99c each we sprang upon them with glee.  

And the result?  Well, I can say that the soup was so yummy that paying full price would have been worth it :)  I'll be keeping my eyes open for more leeky specials!
