Friday’s school generally tends to be shorter, so by 11.30 we were ready to go to town for our Sally’s lunch. I have missed having my sweet-chili-chicken-pasta-salad as we haven’t been for a few Fridays! We then took a slow drive to Sandy Bay for an afternoon visit with a family in our church, stopping on the way to photograph the beauty that surrounds us. (Above - a cross section of a Sandy Bay pastoral scene by Nick; below - Half Tree Hollow as seen from High Knoll Fort). We had a great visit with Leslie, Beatrice and Nick. Afterwards we continued on the winding Sandy Bay road (there are about 90 hairpin bends between the chapel and the beach). There were some bluebottles that had washed up onto the beach – strange looking sacs tinged with blue, like discarded blue bubblegum bubbles. We stayed until the sun had set behind the huge mountains. The boys, meanwhile, had been collecting shells and damming up the small stream that runs under an archway and into the sea – they love the beach!
