We had a morning visit with Nigel and Sharon who Nick married two years ago, and their first baby was born four weeks ago. He’s a dear little thing – when Sharon brought him through at 11 I had a chance to hold him, and he was awake and ready for his bottle. Nigel had been out at work when we arrived, but he came home for part of the time we were there too. From there we went to town where we had a quick lunch of ham on rolls, then had to get to the museum to collect the “Scrapbook of St Helena” so I can reassemble it. Lucy is presenting it to the Education Department next week as there is a possibility that they will undertake to get it published.
In the afternoon we did this, the purpose of which I will eventually elaborate on depending on the outcome – but it took a large chunk of the afternoon with a lot of dead time in between when I was annoyed with myself for not having brought the boys’ school books. Home at 5.30 but dashed out for another mystery appointment which was quick, then had a quick supper of leftovers, got the boys bathed quickly, got dressed, then back to town for Tammy’s concert, which was actually broadcast live on Saint FM which is also available on the internet so it was an international event. I was the official event photographer but the lighting was a nightmare – there was no spotlight on the performers, just a swirling colour-changing disco light sort of setup which left Tammy and Nick completely in darkness a lot of the time. The concert was excellent though. During the first half Tammy and Nick did a few covers of well-known songs (Tammy did some of them completely solo using backing tracks which Nick made, and others were duets or live music), and after the interval they did some of Tammy’s own stuff which will be on her soon-to-be-released CD. Tammy is a natural performer who obviously enjoys being on the stage and does very well at it. Nick provided a show of his own during the interval by spectacularly falling down a flight of wooden steps – a sudden hush followed the loud banging after he landed at the bottom. Thankfully he was unhurt, just a bit bruised!
