Ship day…after its long UK voyage the ship finally returned this morning. The boys had a big Scout jamboree thing on so they were whisked away after the Good News Club teaching, reappearing later in Piccolo where there the main part of the day’s happenings happened. Nick and I stayed in town, lunched at Pam and Geoff and then waited around for the mail – which proved to be disappointing! Pam treated us to coffee at the Consulate while we were waiting. Their wait proved a lot more fruitful so we shared in their excitement. Back at Piccolo the boys were having a smashing time with their fellow Cubs and Beavers. Part of the day involved talking to other scouts worldwide on a short-wave (?) radio. They ended off the afternoon with a barbeque, and we received two red-eyed little boys shortly before 7.

Rachel would have like to be a party of JOTI too, but there were no other Brownies interested - so it did not happen. Did your boys make any contacts? It would have been nice for Rachel to find a Brownie pen pal. Perhaps next year.
