Following a looooong Skype chat with some once-strangers-who-are-quickly-becoming-friends on the other side of the world, we left for town where it was Good News Club, then the regular pop-in visit at Pam and Geoff. We brought Maddy back with us again (this is also becoming a regular thing!). I spent the whole afternoon, between lunch and getting picked up early evening, sorting Lego. I rebuilt Bionicles, spaceships, cars and dinosaurs. The boys and Maddy also helped do a few other pieces once they had finished watching a DVD but quickly got bored and played some fantastic games with the characters and props we’d just built. I’m not entirely sure why I felt the need to sort these things instead of just dumping them in a box and packing them – some inbuilt motherly instinct to match the head to the Bionicle? At 5.15 Pam and Geoff came to fetch us all and take us to Harford Community Centre where Charlotte and Sappho were having a combined disco and hamburger birthday party. It was quite a fun party and the kids had a great time. Nick, meanwhile, had been at Tammy in the afternoon and then had to go to the radio station to record some ‘Thought for the Day’ slots to be aired next week. Usually he does these on a Friday morning but somehow everyone forgot.
