We arranged our day around needing to be at the docks between 4 and 5 to see Shirley off, who is leaving the island now for good. She will go and live with her daughters and their families in the UK – this will be so good for her, particularly after Tony’s death last month. Anthony and Elaine were also leaving to go on holiday; it worked out wonderfully that Shirley could get passage to go with them (Shirley (on the left) is one of Anthony’s many sisters – only some of the siblings are in the photo). I also needed to pay my medical insurance in town before they closed at 3 pm, so we left here at 2.30 after a morning of school and lunch (and speaking to Nick), and after paying the insurance and sending the boys to the Castle to pay a medical bill, we just ambled for an hour – we had threezees on one of the benches outside the Cannister. At 4 pm we walked to the docks and after a short wait, found our targets and bid them a fond farewell. We will miss Shirley.
