Christ is risen! What glorious hope and promise for the believer. We had a good afternoon of snorkelling at Ruperts’…phoned Pam and Geoff and they met us there. The boys only had a short swim and then kept Pam company. Nick, Geoff, Maddy and I swam around to the next cove, where we providentially bumped into some South African Christian yachters who were swimming and sunbathing on their dinghy there…we invited them to the evening service which they were keen to attend. My legs were weak afterward from the hard swimming – great exercise. In the cove and Ruperts’ Bay it’s pretty protected, but we had to swim out a bit to get around a rocky outcrop. There’s a small element of danger in that you have to keep swimming otherwise get swept out to sea, and although the peril is not great, it’s certainly something to keep in mind. Was super great fun and I really enjoyed it. In the cove we saw more varieties of fish as well as a huge sponge and some big coral formations. It’s interesting to see how some fish seem to swim with great purpose and unity, all facing in the same direction and with an apparently common destination. Other species or schools just drift around, carried by the tide, scavenging what may come their way. It struck me that there is a great analogy here for the believer…to be like the purposeful fish, unified with our brothers and sisters, headed in a definite direction and with a goal in mind, not swayed by every tide and current.
The boys meanwhile had hooked up with some Saints who were fishing off the pier, and chatted to them and even helped by holding the fishing rod.
